Our Story

Founded by Tristan Smith being driven by his unwavering work ethic and his deep passion for helping others. In August of 2018, Tristan was involved in a life-altering airplane crash. The impact caused severe damage to his brain requiring partial removal of his frontal lobe, and destroyed his optic nerves leaving him blind.
Many would have understandably given up, but not Tristan.

Instead of letting this devastating event define him, he chose to rise above it. Fast forward to today, and Tristan has rebuilt his life, not only overcoming the challenges of blindness but using his experience to empower others. His journey has inspired him to dedicate himself to helping people with visual impairment to lead lives full of purpose and accomplishment.

While Tristan may be physically blind, he has gained a new, powerful vision—one that is poised to change the world. Through The Blind Leading the Blind, Inc., Tristan’s goal is to guide others who are visually impaired toward discovering their own strength and potential, no matter what obstacles they face.
